Full Swing

Photojournalist Ben Lowy caught this stunning shot at the World Wrestling Championships in Tashkent.

Arthur Russell Speaks

Sometimes reading about how others do it can be the best inspiration. Arthur Russell was one of the most interesting songwriters of his day and this interview proves his personality was just as entertaining.

Hype Machine

Do you ever feel like you can’t keep up with all the new music coming out or just haven’t heard anything good in awhile? This website is amazing and I find something I love every time I visit it.

Say You Love Me

This song is a constant source of beauty for me at this point. It cannot be played enough.

When We Were Kings

This master class of a documentary by Leon Gast if the story of the epic fight between Muhammad Ali and George Forman in Zaire.

Sitting on the Dock of the Bay

I will never do the melody or the lyrics justice – it’s all in the feeling, which is unique to everyone who is listening and every time it’s played.

Healing the Mind

Healing the Mind Through the Power of Story is an intriguing look about how we can help ourselves by tapping into one of the oldest forms of human connection: storytelling.

He Is Called Mick Jagger

Love comes in many different shapes – I love this letter from Keith Richards to his aunt that describes his first meeting with Mick Jagger. I’m sure their creative relationship has had its ups and downs, but it’s hard not to smile at the obvious excitement of a young Keith about meeting someone totally on his wavelength.

Americanah

I’ve been lucky enough to find ‘the one’, but I can totally relate to the feeling that things will never come together. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is unbelievably intelligent and downright hysterical as she tells this story of a Nigerian immigrant and her experiences in the US.

Someone Like You

When I met my partner, we went to Washington DC on our third date. He had brought a cassette player with little speakers and he said lay down with me and listen. He put it on and I couldn’t believe what he was telling me…we had both been though long term relationships, but we hadn’t even found the ONE. Every time I hear this song I cry because I realize someone was looking for someone just like me, and he found him.

Ruckus in the AM

You don’t know how great my dog Ruckus is, but I think a lot of people can relate to the joy and love you get from a pet from day-to-day. I’m not sure he makes me healthier, but I know Ruckus make me happy every day.

Birthday Suits

Photographer Lucy Hilmer’s desert whim started a project that would last over 39 years and offers an incredible glimpse into changing times and one woman’s self image. I am in awe of her courage.

A History of Women’s Boxing

I love to box. It helps my mind and body in more ways than I can count. This link is an interesting look at women in boxing – I’m not one to compete, but I love knowing about these amazing women who paved the way!

Seymour Hoffman on Happiness

It’s hard not to get teary eyed listening to this interview snippet in light of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s untimely death. Yet, I absolutely adore the truth he speaks about happiness, and what it is and actually isn’t.

It’s Never Over

Watching Avan Lava live is like watching a tutorial in ‘how to get off one’s ass’, listening them is much the same. SO GET UP AND MOVE.

Oneness

I’m always intrigued when people think in new and different ways. The second book from the spiritual teacher Rasha ‘Oneness’ will open your mind to a whole other way of thinking about our place in the Universe and help you center yourself from day-to-day.

Caje (feat. Narra)

With this song, Nicone & Sascha Braemer, two Berlin-based DJ’s bring me back to the beach where I can block everything out and get back to what matters.

The Circle

Dave Eggers basically meets our fear about the future of the Internet head on. It will make you think about everything you did today on your smart phone and computer…and maybe make you ask why?

Love Is the Answer

The title track to Aloe Blacc’s third album is what we all need more of in our everyday life – joy, love and an amazing beat. Prepare yourself, you’ll be singing the hook for the rest of the day.
