For the last decade, Rachel owned a successful e-commerce business selling ‘jewelry with meaning’. Building the brand, Rachel utilized social media and was enthralled with how many of her customers were really just looking to connect with other like-minded women. She sent a personal note to everyone that ordered and many wrote back. Groups formed online around these interactions and became The Girls Giving Tree.
After this experience, Rachel launched ‘How to Avoid being Sad’ to celebrate the small ways we can change our lives. Two books emerged as well as a website with daily tips and blog. In 2009, Rachel moved to New York City and became the Membership Manager at Soho House New York.
